Chile isn't a popular country for its metal bands. but from the middle of nowhere Soterion comes straight forward,
bringing you some atmospheric black metal, it turns a little old school in some parts, this band mixes the rawness of old school, with the brilliant melodies of
the atmospheric black metal.
This self-released demo called: "Cult of Lies" contains 5 songs clocking in at 20:00 minutes. The overall sound is similar to Lord Belial.
The demo start off with a traditional and common seen intro, Nordic winds blowing to the north, then some keyboards, well it a good and short intro to this brutality to come,
War of Rising Darkness is where the grimness starts the guitar works are
impressionist, the keys creates a very dark atmospheric sound. Cult of Lies starts in a fast way, faster than the previews songs the vocals remains solid though. Hypocrisy (Inner God) is so far my favorite! you can see the
Scandinavian and Nordic influences running through this song, the drums works are very outstanding in this one. The guitars remains as sharp as knives.
The ending song To Reign Immortal is slower than the others, but it has its own way to impress you, though this is a very sick way to end this demo.
Although this is CD gets no label support the production is quite average. The lyrics are dark and extreme and show you how destruction can comes through mankind. all the lyrics are in English for your convenience. If you want to acquire this demo, you can contact the band at:
